Bringing Experience to the Table
I grew up in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High, as did my wife, Erin Wasserman-Jolliffe. Both of our sons have attended our public schools. We are a very proud and grateful Ashland School District family. Among the four of us, we have had life-enriching experiences at Walker, Briscoe, Helman, AMS, and AHS. These personal connections to Ashland schools offer valuable insights when assessing the current status of our district's education system.
Not the status quo
I don’t have a political background, and I don’t see the school board as a political stepping stone. I felt called to serve because of my strong desire to help address the financial crisis our school district is facing and my deep, long-standing commitment to the Ashland School District and our students. While I appreciate the efforts of the current board and recognize they’ve done the best they could, their decisions reflect their choices when managing the budget. I’m not afraid of hard work or making tough decisions. I will prioritize transparency, accountability, communication, and collaboration.

Unique Perspectives and Financial Experience
I have an educational background in business management and am a Family Nurse Practitioner. I am also a Clinical Medical Director for Providence Medical Group. In this role, I oversee two medical clinics, including budgets and staff. I bring hands-on experience and knowledge from my career in healthcare management. I can bring a critical perspective to evaluating the district's current challenges and offer innovative ideas for school improvement. I have experience with comprehensive budgets, strategically allocating resources, monitoring spending, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and ethical guidelines.
I understand the current climate facing the Ashland School District. Post-COVID, many institutions, including medical organizations, have struggled to stay sustainable. I have had to be dynamic and innovative to keep my clinics thriving while continuing to meet the needs of patients. The school district is in a comparable position, needing to make changes to serve our students better. I’m committed to making funding decisions that emphasize efficiency and the careful, responsible use of the district’s resources. My perspective and experience in managing change and achieving sustainability would be valuable as we move toward a more resilient school district.

Public Service
My commitment to public service reflects my character and connection to the community. In January 2025, I was honored with the Values in Action Award, the highest recognition given to caregivers in the Providence St. Joseph Health system. This award recognizes individuals who embody and exemplify the organization’s five core values: Compassion, Dignity, Justice, Excellence, and Integrity. As an Ashland school board member, I will use these values when collaborating and making decisions for our children and future generations.

Let’s put our kids first—because their future starts with the choices we make today. Fiscal responsibility means creating a school system that’s sustainable, innovative, and fair. Join me in supporting the Ashland School District to invest in classrooms, expand opportunities, and build a stronger future for every child.
